POST EVENT

European Semiconductor Venture Funding “Scale-Up Investing Tools & Methods”

This exclusive discussion will take place on the occasion of the Industry Strategy Symposium ISS Europe 2019, 31 March – 2 April 2019, Milan, Italy.

When: Tuesday, April 02, 2019 from 1:00-3:00pm
Where: Excelsior Hotel Gallia, Piazza Duca d’Aosta 9, Milan, Italy

Background:

VC funding for semiconductor innovations has structurally declined over the last decade and a half.  Yet, these are exactly the kind of innovative products and manufacturing techniques that are needed to solve real societal and national security problems.  Despite the fact that semiconductor solutions are indispensable to solving many important problems, the innovation has largely been left to a few super large semiconductor companies who, by nature, move slower and focus on their existing revenue strongholds.  Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) in hardware are not receiving the private sector financing they need to mature into full commercialization.  Over time, this will make western economies less competitive and strategically more dependent.

Objective:

We believe there is a need for a coming together of the private sector (VC and strategic investors) and public sector to create a new type of funding mechanism for investment in hardware to enable future growth.   We intend to facilitate a level of conversation between the private sector, the public sector, and the VC community to create a new paradigm and platform in investing in KETs.
